Friday Morning Earlybirds
Coach Slobogan and Coach Cotuno host a 6 AM Friday morning skate throughout the year.
Coach Slobogan is a certified Power Edge Pro (PEP) instructor and incorporates this background into his training sessions. Coach Cotuno focuses on a mix of individual skating, battle, passing, shooting and hockey IQ skills.
Skating Camps
Skating is the most vital skill in ice hockey. It begins with proper skating posture, which creates optimal edge contact, stride power, balance and agility.
Coach Cotuno utilizes his life-long training experiences, years of working as a clinic instructor for the likes of Paul Vincent, Tony Granato, Donny Granato, and Chris Chelios, as well as studying the training techniques of Daniel Broberg--a top Swedish skills coach--as a platform for his training methods.
Battle Camps
Winning the puck and possessing it often require body contact. Proper checking technique is equally as important as being evasive and balanced to counter.
Our battle camps will develop scanning techniques to prepare yourself for contact and how to balance and absorb your opponents check. There will be emphasis on proper angling technique, skating balance and power to drive your opponent off pucks. Skating agility and explosiveness will be keyed in on to avoid, absorb, and/or propel through body contact.
Shooting Camps
Who doesn't love to score! Elite goal scorers all have similar traits--head up, quick release, power, accuracy, and can shoot from multiple areas off their body.
At our shooting camps, we will focus on each trait individually with plenty of repetition. Ultimately, we will emphasize blending these individual traits together to improve each players' ability to get shots off quickly, through traffic with power and accuracy translating to game scenarios.
